The Armenian alphabet, created by Mesrop Mashtots in the 5th century, opened the door for creative art forms like Armenian Trchnakir. In this style, each letter is drawn as a bird, connecting the invention of the alphabet with a unique artistic tradition that honors Armenian heritage.
I explore ancient Armenian manuscripts from around the world to find examples of Trchnakir calligraphy. Then, I update these traditional designs so they can be used in modern contexts.
